Los Capitanes are a 7-piece Canberra based rock band. They are characterised by an extremely energetic stage show, which often includes simple acrobatic spectacles and dry sarcastic comedy. The band has reasonably traditional punk/ska lineup with the exception of Chuck on percussion. Their style however, has diverged from ska/punk while retaining elements of the genre, especially the idea of incorporating reggae and Latin inspired grooves into their songs.

The band formed in 2002, at which time most of the members were senior students at Canberra Grammar School. Their original lineup was , Nick Lucey (drums), Dave Rodriguez (electric guitar), Lachlan Knowles (trombone), Kieran Smits (bass guitar), Charles Martin (percussion), Tim Kent (vocals), Julian Barker (Trumpet) and Monica Thompson (trumpet).

Their first released recording was 'No Butts!', an EP recorded in May, 2004 with engineer Gordon Wood. This was released in September 2004.

In 2005, Lachlan Knowles left the band with Rob Lee taking his place soon after. The band expanded their operations in association with The Porkers and Sound System Records, touring the east coast of Australia with The Porkers in December 2005. The year also marked a reduction in the overall size of the horn section (and the band), with Monica Thompson's departure leaving the band with only one trumpet.

Their debut album 'No Fun Intended' was released in March 2006. The recording engineer was Lachlan Mitchell who had previously worked with The Porkers, After the Fall and The Dead Walk. Pete "Porker" Cooper of The Porkers was also involved as producer, also recording cameos on the track Superfish. The album was released through Sound System Records.

In early 2007, Nick Lucey left the band. Jesse Sewell was recruited as an interim, but became a permanent member, contributing significantly to the style of the band.

Los Capitanes are active in the Australian music scene, playing shows in the eastern states of Australia. They are touring over Christmas 2007 alongside The Porkers.
