'''Alton''' is a suburban community or a town located east about 70 km NW of [[Toronto, Ontario|Toronto]] and about 5 km S of [[Orangeville, Ontario|Orangeville]] on the old highway linking Orangeville and Guelph Road which is bypassed to the south and east.  Alton is located in the northern part of [[Caledon, Ontario|Caledon]].  When the Orangeville By-Pass opened in the northeast, [[Ontario Highway 24|Highway 24]] moved from Alton to south and east on Charleston Sideroad and [[Hurontario Street]] ([[Ontario Highway 10|Highway 10]]) and the number was renamed [[Ontario Highway 134|Highway 134]] or Alton Road.  Alton serves a train station with the [[Canadian National|CN]] line and since the abandonment of the line is the second northernmost.  Forests are situated to the west especially within the [[Niagara Escarpment]] and other hills and to the southeast, farmlands covers the rest of the area around Alton.   Alton is also NE of [[Guelph, Ontario|Guelph]] and W of [[Newmarket, Ontario|Newmarket]].<!--
