==Intelligent Being==
The phrase 'intelligent being' has several meanings:
*It is usually understood to mean a human being who is endowed with sufficient [[intelligence (trait)|intelligence]] to understand [[cause and effect]] and to respond appropriately to the challenges that life presents.
* In another sense it can refer to any [[deity]] that is endowed with those attributes.
* In another sense it can refer to some, as yet unproven, form of [[extra-terrestrial]] being that is capable of [[communication]].
* Less usually, it can refer to a [[machine]] capable of [[understanding]] [[instructions]] and taking appropriate action, without further human intervention.
