Tucson Theological Seminary is a non-denominational seminary. It was founded in 2005 by Genevieve Gardner and Christine Smalley, who is the current seminary president. The founders had a vision to create an alternative seminary choice to traditional seminary education, by providing lower tuition costs and fast tracked degrees thus allowing those students who cannot afford a traditional seminary education, nor have the years to devote to it, an opportunity to go to seminary. This alternative to traditional seminary programs is funded by private parties, thus allowing Tucson Theological Seminary to offer tuition on a sliding scale basis. Tucson Theological Seminary models their seminary after the "community college" concept, which is a first for seminary education. But critics of the initiative--including academic university seminaries--say it's a poor substitute for the rigors of traditional seminary programs, which often requires a Bachelor Degree to even begin seminary training and three years or more of schooling before graduation and entering the ministry field. Tucson Theological Seminary is affiliated with American Evangelistic Association - a nationwide organization which began in 1954 and has 60,000 members who ordains the seminary's graduates. Tucson Theological Seminary is Wesleyan/Methodist/Nazarene in form and theology.

Tucson Theological Seminary offers AA, BA, MA and Th.D religious degrees.
