Kuki Linux (pronounced /co'o.kie/, or "cu-qui-e"), is a funny named, lightweight Ubuntu-based Linux distribution founded by João Ferro aka leak. Based on Canonical's Ubuntu Os, it was created to be a replacement for the, Fedora-based, Linpus Linux Lite original distribution for the Acer Netbook, Acer Aspire One and Microsoft's Windows, so that everyone could enjoy his / her netbook with a stable, fun, light weight, speedy and appealing yet free OS.
Development
Developed with the goal of providing easy computer interaction for all users. The Kuki Linux distribution is fit for all ages and levels of computer experience. The main goal was to give users an alternative to commercial operating systems and that it would be fast, light weight and free to download.
Main characteristics
Kuki Linux's main characteristic is to give the user the possibility of installing an Operating System that will be fully hardware compatible, be it audio features, video, web browsing, email, games amongst many of the other features that are totally free.
Keep in mind that Kuki Linux is very stable but is still an alpha release! So as new Acer Aspire One models get out in the market some specific features might not work correctly or might not even work at all due to the team's limitation in either to have access to the specific model or lack of users using Kuki and giving output on the behavior after install.
Kuki Linux gives the user the possibility to maximize the devices hardware and get the most out of the Aspire One.
This distribution will be easy to surf the web through a well known web browser such as Firefox, have good multi protocol messenger like Pidgin (instant messaging client alternative) and also send email using Claws Mail (known alternative to Outlook). Not forgetting the users entertainment experience, including music and movies, these can be easily accessed by Audacious Music Player and Mplayer Movie Viewer respectively. There are many other great features that make this distro a pleasure to use such as its custom kernel, speedy boot up time and compatibility with the current Ubuntu software repositories.
Kuki Linux Custom Kernel
One of Kuki Linux main features is its custom kernel, it is optimized for Netbooks and it as all the drivers needed. From what has been tested it should also work in all ubuntu based distro's. Installing Kuki kernel is advised for the ones who want to get the most of their Netbook.
Kuki Linux Team
Kuki Linux distro is maintained by a bunch of nice people, that always try to give you the best support possible.
