Revision 33630976 of "WikiTree" on enwiki WikiTree (initiated on April 26 2005) is a project running on the MediaWiki platform that aims to bring together basic personal profiles of all individuals we know who ever lived on this planet and automatically construct bloodline trees of families that will gradually start forming a global family forest of humanity. Many people perform excellent genealogical research (or hire professionals that comb the archives and databases for them) and put a lot of effort in constructing their own family trees. However, all such trees, sophisticated as they may be, are growing in isolation. Very little information needs to be entered about any person - just name, birth, death and children's names. One of the goals is the ability to visualize any part of the global family tree (patrilineal, matrilineal, in a given period, etc). WikiTree project follows the rules of a totally transparent community development very similar to the one behind Wikipedia (free editing and viewing, respect for and appreciacion of differing opinions, languages and cultures). WikiTree is currently not hosted by the Wikimedia Foundation. Instead, it is hosted on private servers. The service can run quite slowly, especially, when a large family tree is involved, causing delays of many seconds inbetween page loads as the family tree graphs in articles are constructed. == External links == * WikiTree Main Page ru:WikiTree All content in the above text box is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license Version 4 and was originally sourced from https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?oldid=33630976.
