Revision 383062 of "Civil-Military_Co-operation" on enwiki

The Civil-Military Co-operation (CIMIC) unit of the Canadian contingent of ISAF in Kabul, Afghanistan is responsible for infrastructure and reconstruction projects in the region.

Acting very much like a Provincial Reconstruction Team, CIMIC builds schools and fixes roads and bridges. However, unlike a PRT, CIMIC only hires and supervises local people to do the work, with little hands-on involvement in projects. Also unlike a PRT, CIMIC maintains tactical perspective.

They are led by Maj. Steve Whelan. Members of the unit are housed at Camp Julien.
