'''Pieter Post''' ([[1608]]-[[1669]]) was a [[Netherlands|Dutch]] [[architect]], [[painter]], [[printmaker]]. The son of a [[stained-glass]] painter, Pieter Post achieved fame as an exponent of Dutch classicizing architecture. Patronized by members of the court and of government, he designed town [[house]]s, country houses, and weigh-houses that often featured a central hall with a [[cupola]] crowned by an [[octagon]]al [[tower]]. Like many architects of the era, he also designed [[interior designer|interiors]]. In [[1646]] Post was appointed to an official position and settled in [[The Hague]].

Although Post was most successful as an architect, he had formally trained as a painter. He painted [[Landscape art|landscape]]s, like his brother [[Frans Post]], as well as [[battle]] scenes. He also published a number of [[engraving]]s, mostly of [[ornament]]al architecture such as [[mantel]]s and [[chimney]]s.

He also helped to build [[Mauritshuis]] and designed [[Heeze Castle]].
