Revision 48785750 of "Sextet band" on enwiki[[Sextet]] is an improvisational group from [[Rocklin]], California. Bobby Schaulis and Austin Moore are the core members with support from a 'rotating roster' of musicians. In 2005 Bobby Schaulis, Austin Moore and Bret Peterson formed an improvisational [[jazz trio]] under the name of 'Myspace Friends for [[Hugo Chavez]]'. Bobby ([[clarinet]]), Austin ([[trumpet]]), Bret (drum kit). Myspace Friends for Hugo Chavez disbanded after only recording one night session at Springview Johnson Park due to their drummer (Bret) having to leave for the [[NAVY]] (Accelerate your life!). At this point Nicholas Spangler was added as percussionist for the trio under a now unnamed collaboration. After a few practices the three men added Courtland Miles to the roster as a second trumpet player. Now under the name Sextet, the group recorded several sessions and developed their own sound. The group would later add Summer Avey ([[soprano saxophone]], [[percussion]]) and Pat Hills (guitar, percussion). On March 18th, 2006 Sextet debuted their new six person line up at the Fools Foundation in Sacramento, California with a very warm reception after the performance. ==Influences== *Among the list of artists to influence the sound of Sextet: *- [[Anthony Braxton]] *- [[Dave Holland]] *- [[Elliott Carter]] *- [[Max Roach]] ==Current Line Up== *Bobby Schaulis - Clarinet, Soprano Sax, Electric Guitar *Austin Moore - Trumpet, Flute, Clarinet *Summer Avey - Soprano Sax, Percussion *Courtland Miles - Bass, Trumpet, Percussion *Patrick Hills - Electric Guitar, Percussion *Nicholas Spangler - Percussion, Acoustic Electric ==Discography== ==External links== *[http://www.myspace.com/sextetband Sextet's Myspace] All content in the above text box is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license Version 4 and was originally sourced from https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?oldid=48785750.
