'''StarLink.Org''' is a general-purpose [[Internet Relay Chat|IRC]] network founded in 15. July 1996, initially intended to be a friendly and stress-free, unlike what [[EFnet]] and other networks had become during the time.

The network was initially known as just '''StarLink''', until on 1. January 1997, less than half a year after the network was founded, StarLink was broken into two separate networks now known as StarLink.Org and [[StarLink-IRC]] due to internal tensions between the operators and their inability to adapt to the growing number of users. As of 2006, StarLink-IRC remains to be the more popular side of the split [http://searchirc.com/network-search/starlink].
