Hey nathanr, I came across this debate on [[WP:AN]]. While I understand and respect your desire to have images in your signature to express your nationality, I would like to humbly ask you to perhaps consider limiting your signature to one image. My reasoning for this is that consider that each of the images in your signature (as resized) are approximately 500 bytes in size. While that may not seem like much, I would like you to consider the fact that there are users of wikipedia who are still on dial-up (I'm not one of them, but I know plenty who are). I would also imagine that if everyone's signature was 1.5k in size, the time it would take for some of the core project discussion pages to load would probably discourage users on dial-up from contributing. Now that I know the rationale behind no images (and it was explained very well), I will seriously consider it during my Wikibreak (I need some time to clear my head). I actually think this should be policy (I mean, written in stone "Don't do it" policy) for that reason.
:However, Cyde crossed the line of what is acceptable and what is not, and to that end, I hope for some justice. Admins are the public face of Wikipedia (so are users but admins represent the project) and they can't be doing what Cyde did.

So as long as Cyde knows: If/when I change my signature, I won't do it because he demanded nor did I do it because Kelly Martin pushed me further - I'll do it because I was asked nicely (by Charlie here and by [[User:Tawker|Tawker]] on IRC). [[WP:ISNOT|Wikipedia is not]] a dictatorship ruled by Jimbo and the Cabal <small>(but it does look like it even at the best of times)</small>. Will you join [[User:GeorgeMoney/potd|My Picture of the Day]]? The reason I have it, is so images that aren't Featured quality can still be featured. Anybody can put a picture there. All you have to do is pick a day for your picture, and create a page in "User:GeorgeMoney/Month DayNumber, Year". Then, use the following format: Put <code><nowiki>{{SUBST:User:GeorgeMoney/potd/template|image=Your image.jpg|width=500px (optional)|description=<an optional description>|size=250px (optional)|user=Your Username}}</nowiki></code> on the page of the day you are creating (Remember for all of the optional variables that you don't use, totally remove them from the syntax). Then all you have to do is put <code><nowiki>{{User:GeorgeMoney/potd}}</nowiki></code> on your userpage, and it will automatically make the picture for the day. If you want to have it show your picture forever, put <code><nowiki>{{User:GeorgeMoney/potd|May 47, 2009}}</nowiki></code>. Replace "May 47, 2009" with the day your picture will be on.

:It's just common sense. Any user can make some polemic or inflammatory userbox in his User: space, link to it and there would be chaos. Why does there ''need'' to be a policy for this? Read [[Wikipedia:WikiProject_Userboxes]] and [[Wikipedia:Userboxes]], I'm sure it's in there someplace. :Userboxes need to conform to Wikipedia guidelines - [[Wikipedia:Userbox_policy]] (proposed).
