Shakinouts are an English indie rock band who formed in 2007 and ended in 2011. Hailing from Leeds, the group consisted of Matt Wilson, Jamie Williamson, Ben Hope, Alex Brook, Rupert Stroud, Sam Potter, Daimo Moore, and Rich Myers.
History
Formation and early years (2008-2011)
'Shakinouts' played their first ever gig at The Brudenell Social Club at a Teenage Cancer Trust fundraiser on 29 June 2008. They have played alongside Tom Hingley (Inspiral Carpets), Matt Abbott (Skint & Demoralised), Eugene McGuinness, Micky P Kerr and The Farm. In 2009 the band decided to take things seriously following label and press interest. Time You Were Told is the first limited release single following rave reviews from Matt Bowman from The Pigeon Detectives. The band have been spoken about and praised by Edwyn Collins, The Yorkshire Evening Post, Matt Bowman from the Pigeon Detectives, Simon from the Kaiser Chiefs and Air Traffic.
Their hard work paid off in 2009 when the boys frequently sold out the legendary Leeds venue 'The Cockpit' & played one of their best gigs to date. Having now built up a big local following, the future looked good for the Shakinouts. In July 2009, the band played to a full 70,000 capacity at Party In The Park, Leeds's biggest pop concert, held in Temple Newsham. The band opened the concert and received lots of positive feedback from papers such as The Sun and The Guardian.

From the Cockpit to Party in the Park(2009-.......)
Shakinouts headlined a series of big gigs most noticeably at the cockpit in June where they had a packed out room singing their up and coming single "Are You Happy". Due to their great success in Leeds, the Yorkshire Evening post coupled with Radio Aire invited them to share the bill at Party in the Park at Temple Newsam with artists such as Dizzee Rascal, Calvin Harris, N-Dubz and the Noisettes.
In December 2009 Shakinouts supported Shed Seven on their latest academy tour.
Up until April 2011, Shakinouts were known as a 4 piece indie band from Leeds' and consisted of Matt Wilson, Jamie Williamson, Ben Hope and Alex Brook. However, it was in April 2011 when bass player Ben Hope left the band to go to Australia.
