'''Saharan''' or '''Saran'''  is a gotra of hindu Jats found in India. 
They are not to be confused with punjabi "sran".
They are found in states of haryana,rajasthan,west up and few in punjab.
Though they are hindus , they are mostly non religious in day to day life.
One peculiar trait of the saharan jats is their extremely high service in the armed forces,central police forces and state police forces.
Another trait worth noting is their extremely low service in the indian navy.
Unlike others , they are very somber and well mannered which is astonishing considering their high numbers in the belt force (both in the officer's corps as well as the constabulary).
