He was promoted to Under Secretary in the Ministry of Defence in October 1997. To promote the teachings of his [[paramparā]] Sanjay Rath has formed a non-profit organisation called [http://www.srijagannath.org Śrī Jagannāth Center] where his advanced students are helping to spread Jyotiṣa in a way that keeps its spiritual roots. Students learn not only about Jyotiṣa, but also [[mantra shastra|Mantra Śāstra]], [[mudra]], [[prāṇayāma]], [[meditation]], and the [[Sanātanī|Sanātana Dharma]].
