==Early life==
Kaushal was born in [[Himachal Pradesh]], India to New Zealand politician and businessman [[Sunny Kaushal]] and Sonia Rai. <ref>{{Cite news |url=http://www.indianweekender.co.nz/Pages/ArticleDetails/7/7007/New-Zealand/Kiwi-Indian-youth-makes-history|title=Kiwi Indian youth makes history|work=Indian Weekender|access-date=13 March 2017|language=en-US}}</ref> He migrated to New Zealand with his family at very young age and grew up locally in [[Mount Roskill]], [[Auckland]] and went to Mount Roskill School Campus. His younger brother went to the same schools. 

While at Mount Roskill Intermediate School and [[Mount Roskill Grammar School]], Kaushal wanted to have a career related to computers for which he was awarded second in subject in Year 11.{{cn|date=March 2017}}

==Education==
Kaushal attended [[University of Auckland]] from 2012 to 2015 and completed his [[Bachelor of Arts]] majoring in politics and minoring in history, and Bachelor of Arts Honours specialising in politics and international relations at the same in 2016. While he wanted to focus on studying domestic politics, Kaushal was inspired by his father to expand his horizons and look to specialise in international relations. In 2016, Kaushal began studying at [[Massey University]] to further specialise in international relations and foreign policy. ==Youth Parliament==

==2013 Auckland Council elections ==

==2016 Auckland Council elections ==
Three years later, Kaushal was reselected to stand for Roskill Community Voice for the Puketāpapa Local Board. This election marked the most successful campaign for Roskill Community Voice to date. ==Puketāpapa Local Board==
Kaushal is currently the co-lead in Arts, Community and Events (Youth and Community Safety) for Puketāpapa/Mt Roskill area. Part of the Community, and Heritage and Infrastructure Cluster, and appointed to Auckland Noise Community Consultative Group.  

He is the youngest member to date elected on the Puketāpapa Local Board, and the first overseas-born member. <ref name=":0" />

Kaushal is part of the Roskill Community Voice, City Vision progressive group. He is seen attending events with {{NZ electorate link|Mount Roskill}} MP [[Michael Wood (New Zealand politician)|Michael Wood]] and former MP and current Mayor [[Phil Goff]], Sunny Kaushal and Dr [[Rajen Prasad]].
