Revision 78308453 of "StarLink-IRC" on enwiki

IRC networks

StarLink-IRC, commonly abbreviated as slirc is a general-purpose IRC network that split from StarLink.Org (then known as just StarLink) on 1. January, 1997. It inherited the goal to be a friendly and stress-free network, committed to defending its users from abuse and prohibiting channels on possibly inappropriate topics, including warez and cybersex.

This means that StarLink-IRC has unusually strict rules. Rules for mentioning/advocating other networks can quickly result in a G-line and rules for language are similar to those for [[United States|American] public television.

Some of the most popular channels on Starlink-IRC are channels for the Autistic community, like [irc://irc.starlink-irc.org/#asperger #asperger], the oldest asperger chatroom on IRC. [irc://irc.starlink-irc.org/#autism #autism] has become less active recently, as a number of regulars have been g-lined. The Dutch language chatroom on autism is also on Starlink-IRC and is [irc://irc.starlink-irc.org/#autsider #autsider]. In this channel, anyone is welcome.
