Revision 813909 of "Nissan_River" on enwiki'''Making a webpage''' The first thing to know is that there are many different codes used on the [[internet]]. *[[Html]] **[[Javascript]] **[[VBSScript]] **[[Xml]] **[[CSS]] (more about that later) *[[Perl]] *[[Phtml]] *[[Asp]] And many many more. This walkthrough will teach you how to use HTML and maybe at a later date, Javascript and Perl. ==What each webpage is composed of== Each webpage has a web-header, and a web body. It is composed of elements. An element is also sometimes called a tag, and looks like this: :<nowiki><html></nowiki> :<nowiki><head></nowiki> <--- The start of the header. :<nowiki><title>Foobar</title></nowiki> <--- The title. :<nowiki></head></nowiki> <--- The end of the header. :<nowiki><body></nowiki> <--- The body :<nowiki><h1>Hello world!</h1></nowiki> :<nowiki><br>Hello world!<br></nowiki> :<nowiki></body></nowiki> :<nowiki></html></nowiki> As you can see, they all (the elements) all end with another tag, apart from <nowiki><br></nowiki> which denotes a new line. If you typed that into a [[text editor]] and then saved it as "index.html" with those quote marks around it, you will have a new webpage all your own! ==Different tags you can use== (see also [[HTML tag]]) <nowiki><i> </i></nowiki> <-- These make writing between the two ''italics''. <nowiki><b> </b></nowiki> <-- These make writing between the two '''bold'''. <nowiki><font size="''insert a number from 1-7" color="''insert a color''" align="''choose left, center, or right''"> </font></nowiki> :With that tag, it enables you to choose the look of all the writing between the tag. The size, color, and align are self-explanatory. But you should know, that where [[Internet Explorer]] and the newer [[Netscape Navigator]] support written colours such as "Red" and "Blue", to be compatible and to get certain colors you must use a system called [[hexadecimal]]. White would be #ffffff . Black is #000000 . <nowiki><img src="''insert an image address here''"></nowiki> <-- you insert an image using that tag. <nowiki><object src="''type an address''" type="''choose a type''"></nowiki> :/\- this can insert not only an image but other things too. <nowiki><a href="''insert a webpage address''">''Write here what the link should say''</a></nowiki> :This one is probably the most important of all. It links to another web-page. ==Css and the new standards== Html is governed by the [http://www.w3c.com W3C], and the new standard is HTML 4.0 which uses CSS, short for [[Cascading Style Sheets]]. To see a webpage made using this click http://starriches.tripod.com there. More will be added soon.
