Mer's first acting job was the recurring role of Kayla Jones on the ABC Daytime [[soap opera]] ''The City''.  Mer appeared in several national commercials, including: [[Disney World]], [[Red Lobster (restaurant)|Red Lobster]], Glad and [[JC Penney]].

Mer appeared as Lyssa in the TV movie: ''[[Babylon 5]]: In the Beginning'', and in ''[[Star Trek: Voyager]]'' as the human girl seen lost inside the mind of the Borg. On ''[[Charmed]]'', she played a demonic child named Freckles who could use aerokinesis.  She played a teen prankster in the opening sequence of the [[HBO]] series ''[[Six Feet Under (TV series)|Six Feet Under]]'' and her performance as Charlotte in the [[NBC]] drama ''[[Medical Investigation]]'' gained her a Young Artist Award nomination for a Best Performance by a Guest Star in 2005.
