and  one of the largest sub-clans of [[Isaaq]], Its members form a part of [[Habr Awal]] and the Habar Magaadle  confederation. 
The Issa Mussa is a vast traditional territory spanning 3 major regions of Somaliland, Waqooyi Galbeed, Togdheer, and Sahil. The [[Issa Mussa]] are settled in what is literally considered to be 'the Horn of Africa'. Also, The Issa Mussa clan primarily inhabits the northern territories of [[Somaliland]] They reside in northern and of  [[Sanaag]], The Issa Mussa traditionally consists of farmers, nomadic pastoralists, merchants and coastal people. 

North of [[Hargeisa]], [[Berbera]], North of [[Burao]], [[Sheikh]], [[Da'ar buduq]], and northern of  [[Sanaag]] are all predominantly inhabited by the Issa Mussa sub-clan of the Isaaq. Also Hawd Area and Oodweyne.

Sheikh Isaaq Bin Ahmed was one of the Arabian scholars that crossed the sea from Arabia to the Horn of Africa to spread Islam around 12th to 13th century. He is said to have been descended from Prophet Mohammed's daughter [[Fatimah]]. Hence the Sheikh belonged to the [[Ashraf]] or [[Sayyid|Sada]], titles given to the descendants of the prophet. He married two local women in Somalia that left him eight sons, one of them Issa Mussa Abdirahman (Awal). The descendants of those eight sons are the what is known as Isaaq clan today.
