Located in between the areas of Mokotów and the city centre, the park is currently one of the biggest in Warsaw. Until World War II major part of the park was occupied by an airfield and Warsaw University of Technology aircraft works. Pola Mokotowskie was also the seat of Warsaw Airport (until 1934) and Warsaw Horse Racing Track (until 1939).
Currently the place is famous for its bars and pubs as well as for Polish National Library located there.
