IXL Learning is an American educational technology company based on learning. The company's main product is ixl.com, a website primarily offering educational practice for K-12th graders. IXL Learning offers practice skills for math, language arts, science, social studies, and Spanish.

History
IXL Learning was founded in October 23, 1998 by Paul Mishkin. The company's first product was Quia Web, a website that allowed teachers and learners to create and share customized study materials, and featured gamification mechanics.

In 2007, the company introduced IXL as a math practice program with math topics at levels ranging from pre-kindergarten to high school, as well as data analysis tools. The program was expanded in 2013.

In 2015, IXL Learning opened its second office, in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina. In 2018, IXL laid off its Social Studies, Science, and Spanish content designers and virtually ceased production of these subjects. This was preceded by a spate of controversial townhalls led by the CEO. In them, he denied that gender, ethnic, or racial diversity was of any importance and instead lauded the need for "cognitive diversity" only. In Spring of 2019, the company's VP of HR finally began attempting to counter the negative Glassdoor reviews from some of these events.
