A+ Certification
The '''A+ certification''' demonstrates competency as a computer technician. CompTIA A+ certification is a vendor neutral certification.
It requires two tests to be passed: the [[wikipedia:A+ Essentials|A+ Essentials]] exam and a choice of one of three elective exams. CompTIA is vendor neutral but leans towards Microsoft operating systems, although some Apple questions do appear on newer exams.

The A+ certification exam was updated in late 2012, with prior updates in 2009 and 2006

A+ certification currently entails two tests: '''A+ Essentials (220-801) and   Practical Application (220-802)'''. Both of these tests must be passed in order to receive A+ certification. Windows 7 is moreadditionally addressed in the new test even though, despite many companies have notnot having upgraded pastbeyond XP.

The 2009 exams were the (220-701) Essentials and (220-702) Practical Application. They have replaced the older 220-601 which is not longer offered anymore in the English versions since March 2010, and they will be discontinued in 2013. 

As of 2010, the total cost is 336 USD (168 USD for each test). If you are a student check with your school's Career Tech programme, most public schools are Jobs+ sites.   If your school is a Jobs+ site, you can get the A+ voucher for half the price as you would retail price. Many companies that offer training are CompTIA affiliates, and can also sell you the voucher at discounted prices.

The CompTIA A+ Essentials consists of 100 questions, and the elective consists of 90 questions. A passing score on the CompTIA A+ Essentials exam is 675,; on any of the electives is 700.
