Minor losses are the localised losses that occurs in certain section of pipes, most pipes systems consists of considerably more than straight pipe, So the additional components such as valves, tees and the like add to the overall minor head loss in pipe.

The most common used to determine there head losses pressure, drops is to specify the loss co-efficient KL   which is defined as
