# A term originally coined by Gabriel Biderman, a professional photographer who described Ruinism as the "beauty of decay". It is an art form, in which the artist creates his or her work based on some form of decay, natural or artificial. This includes, but is not limited to:
* Burning of objects.
* Carving (excluding sculptures, statues and the likes).
* Cutting or slashing canvas.
* Demolition of buildings.
* Photography of explosions.

It should be noted that suffering, pain, and despair, if caused by the creation of these works, does not constitute as, and should not be related with the ruinism movement. Ruinism does not include:
* Drawings/paintings/imitations of decay.
* Decay intended to cause harm or distress.
