Revision 20609667 of "User:-sche" on enwiktionary

Hi, I'm -sche ([ʃeɪ], like the tree). I keep a Hall of Fame and Hall of Shame containing what I see as the best and worst things on Wiktionary.

I tend RFV from time to time, create entries for the names of the languages Wiktionary includes and work to ensure Wiktionary calls each language by its most common distinct English name. As I work with language codes to do so, I overhauled WT:Languages, WT:Families and WT:Dialects to better document Wiktionary's language-code-naming system. In the past, I also worked to update Wiktionary:English adjectives.

My more recent efforts have been to clarify Wiktionary's treatment of Low German (nds, nds-de, nds-nl) and to catch instances of nds which should be gml; I give my thoughts Low German and an index of past discussions here. I also work to ensure pdc entries are indeed High German and pdt entries are indeed Low German rather than vice versa and to clarify the situation of the Low German dialect "East Frisian" gegenüber its cousin the language "East Frisian", sorting out frs and stq along the way.

Once that's done, I may resume working on my comprehensive list of English terms of Native American origin and might even revive my list of German terms of Native American origin.

Small projects of mine include listing adjectives derived from personal names, listing river-related compound nicknames for cities and river-name adjectives and working on Namibian German.

Large projects on my to-do list include updating the dismally out-of-date Wiktionary:Style guide, updating Wiktionary:Entry layout explained, and improving the relationship of those two pages to each other. (Oh, and sooner or later these codes all need to be created or moved to a Wiktionary:-namespace record of which codes have been intentionally excluded.)

(User:-sche/)

cleanup
:More cleanup tasks and things to do are listed here.
:* fix the orthography of the Low German in [[köök]], verify everything about [[fördern]], clean up / RFV mura and schwerpunkt#English, clean up the etymology of betel, merge Plauttdietsch+Plautdietsch; add US pronunciation to Anatolian, Palaic; sort out the legal meanings of approver and approvement
:* Go through everything in the WT namespace, cross-linking when appropriate and RFDing empty pages.
:* Lowercase uses of Template:nds-noun should mostly be nds-nl, uppercase should mostly be Template:nds-de-noun.
:* Most pages which use Template:en-initialism are actually nouns or verbs or adjectives complete with inflected forms, which should thus use POS templates, like CD.
:* Many Hungarian templates indicate that a form is not used by displaying and linking to a hyphen; they shouldn't link to it.
:* the things in should be in :Category:English plurals
:: Delete RFT tags from the tagged-but-not-listed entries in :Category:Tea room.

:: Work to clarify CFI of place names (Ottawa, Louvre), brand names (especially of not-obviously-physical products) (still?) and phrasebook entries (like this one). There is wide support to change the following sections of CFI, but a vote has yet to be proposed: Idiomaticity, Natural Languages, possibly Constructed Languages, (Brand Names), Names of Specific Entities.
