==Sometimes, Wikipedia’s servers get buggy, or slow. When they do, I'm the one who dashes to work on a Sunday afternoon or rolls out of bed in the middle of the night to fix the problem.== 

I work as an operations engineer at the 
[[wmf:|Wikimedia Foundation]]. It's my job to make sure that when you type ''www.wikipedia.org'', you get there &mdash; as quickly as possible. 

My love of computers manifested itself at an early age: preschool.  My preschool got a shiny new [[W:Apple_II_series|Apple II]], and I thought it was the best toy in the entire school.

I loved that computer so much it got me in trouble.  I'd push the other kids off the computer so I could play instead. When my mom came to pick me up, I'd tell her, "I didn't get to play on the computer at all."  But my teachers always told her the truth. 

Now, I still get to play with computers. But luckily, I've also learned to share. And since I work on Wikipedia, now I can share my work with the entire world.

I believe that everyone deserves to have the same advantages. That dream is still a long ways away &mdash; but at least I can make sure that someone across the globe can access the exact same information I can access, sitting here in [[w:San Francisco|San Francisco]].
