About the job: The Foundation considers its two core competencies in supporting global Wikimedia communities to be technology and grantmaking. The Foundation engages in various grant-making programs, aimed at mission-aligned organizations, groups, and individuals around the world. This funds a variety of inspiring outreach projects, partnerships, content acquisition and improvement programs, and more. The Program Officer (Project and Event Grants) will: 1. Support applicants and grantees in crafting and executing effective programs for the Project and Event Grants program, and will be grantees' primary point of contact at WMF, connecting them to other community and WMF resources. 2. Ensure grants include effective evaluation criteria, and help grantees measure and track their progress. 3. Work with the Grantmaking Learning & Evaluation team to develop learnings with grantees during and after grant execution, and aggregate those into best practices to be shared with the motivated. 4. Communicate actively with grantees and form lasting and effective relationships with volunteers, community members, and other grantees. Keep grantees informed throughout the life of each grant, and beyond. When possible, fulfill community expectations of responsiveness. 5. Participate in developing strategies for soliciting new grant proposals and expanding the WMF grants programs and volunteer support programs to meet organizational goals. 6. Serve as an informed voice within the Foundation for grantee needs, helping to surface issues that have implications for grantees. The Program Officer (Project and Event Grants) will work within the Foundation's Grantmaking and Programs team, under the supervision of the Head of Grants and Global South Partnerships. Job requirements: At least 2 years of experience in program or project management with a track record of success, preferably including project planning, evaluation, budgeting, workflow management, contracts management, grant monitoring and reporting, and document management. Experience working in the non-profit sector, preferably grants-related (grantmaking, grants administration, grant seeking). Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English. Proven facility in at least one language other than English. Significant personal volunteer experience, preferably in a leadership role. Strong interpersonal skills; ability to communicate in a public setting in a non-polarizing way. Bachelor's degree or equivalent with strong academic results. Nice to have: Experience in and knowledge of best practices in grantmaking including grantee relations, international grantmaking and process administration. Experience with wiki sites. Demonstrated experience working in a global, multi-cultural team; Experience working outside of your home country environment preferred. Fluency in additional languages.
