[[അഖില ഭാരതീയ വിദ്യാർത്ഥി പരിഷത്ത്]]എന്ന സംഘടനയുടെ ചുരുക്കം ആണ്‌ എ. ബി. വി. പി. 1948-ൽ സ്ഥാപിതമായ എ.ബി.വി.പി 1949 ജൂലൈ 9-ആം തീയതി രജിസ്റ്റർ ചെയ്യപ്പെട്ടു. രാഷ്ട്രീയ സ്വയംസേവക സംഘത്തിൽ നിന്ന് പ്രചോദനം ഉൾക്കൊണ്ട ഒരു കൂട്ടം അദ്ധ്യാപകരും വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളുമാണ് ഇതിന്റെ സ്ഥാപകർ. വിദ്യാർത്ഥി സംഘടനയാണ് എബിവിപി. ആദ്യകാലങ്ങളിൽ സംഘടനയുടെ വളർച്ചയിൽ പ്രധാന പങ്കുവഹിച്ചത് ബോംബെക്കാരനായ പ്രൊഫസർ യശ്വന്ത് റാവു കെൽക്കറാണ്.ജ്ഞാനം ശീലം ഏകത എന്നതാണ് എ ബി വിപി യുടെ മുദ്രാവാക്യം . നിര്മാണാത്മകം , പ്രക്ഷോഭാത്മകം ,കേരളത്തിലെ വിദ്യാർത്ഥി സമൂഹത്തിന്റെ നിരവധി പ്രശ്നങ്ങൾ ഏറ്റെടുത്തു അനേകം സമരങ്ങൾ എബി വിപി  സംഘടിപ്പിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്
