Een space marine chapter is een volledig zelfstandig militaire eenheid gemaakt van super menselijke krijgers die bekend staan als space marines of Adeptus Astartes. Elk chapter heeft natuurlijk ook de benodigde voertuigen, ruimteschepen en ondersteuningspersoneel zoals monteurs in de vorm van servitors en bemanning van de ruimteschepen.
