Sujata stormed the citadel of music when she was only 7 year old won prizes and awards galore. Her tutelage in classical music started under Prabhakar Dhakde in Nagpur, Padmashree Ustaad Ghulaam Mustafa Khan, Pt. Ajay Pohankar, and Ustad Asad Ali Khan. She has learnt various aspects of light music under Pt. Satyanarayan Mishra, Gautam Mukherji and Late Shri Kalyanjibhai.
