Michel Phaneuf was for over three decades one of [[Quebec]]'s most influential wine columnists.
He published since 1981 30 editions of his «Guide du vin» which has sold almost a million copies. He was a pioneer, followed later by François Chartier, Jean Aubry, Philippe Lapeyrie, etc.
He holds a bachelor in communication from Université du Quebec a Montreal.
The 2010 edition of his guide won a Gourmand World Cookbook Awards. His guide is now copublished with Nadia Fournier.
Since 2007, Michel Phaneuf has suffered health issues: heart problems, cancer and [[Parkinson]].
