Friends and family recognized his talent at an early age, but it was not until he moved to [[Aweil]] aged 14, to [[Wau]], that Soj realized his potential as a singer. he attended Aweil Catholic Church Music, and was taught by clergyman. Soj then attended the Aweilian arts High School, which was the only school he applied to.
