The [[Qur'an]] ascribes to [[Muhammad]] rather than to [[Jesus]] the position of the long awaited [[messiah]], since it puts Jesus in the position of no more than an apostle sent by [[God in Islam|God]] to the children of Israel, and puts Muhammad in the position of the mercy sent by God to all the creation.<ref>David Benjamin Keldani.
