J-Pimp was born Joél Filsaime in [[Boynton Beach, Florida]] and raised in [[Delray Beach, Florida]] of [[Haitian]] descent. His parents were [[Immigration|immigrants]] from Haiti. He is the third oldest of 4 children (He has two brothers and one sister). He began taking interest in music at an early age, started as a [[Disc jockey|DJ]] playing a variety of rap music on the morning announcement in [[Middle school|junior high school]]. He grew up in an athletic environment, He won several awards on the [[Track and field]] team and played defensive back in [[High school]] [[American football|football]], Following a serious football injury in the 9th grade, he began to consider rapping as a career. He dropout of high school in the eleventh grade to pursue a career in the [[Music industry|music industry]]. He developed his musical talent and taught himself how to record music from his home [[Recording studio|studio]]. He grew up listening to [[Hip hop]] and [[R&B]] music. He was raised as a [[Roman Catholic (term)|Roman Catholic]] and attended Catholic school.

In December 2010, J-Pimp was arrested on gun charges in [[Palm Beach County, Florida]].
