}}The Annual Berkeley Road Race is a annual road race that follows a 85.1 mile route through the Gloucestershire countryside. It starts and finishes in front of the Berkeley campus secondary school in Wanswell. Usually during the race there are break away groups due to the hilly nature of the race, although there has twice during the race history been a bunch sprint at the finish line. Firs(contracted; show full)minating rider was none other than Dan Devenish (aka The Locomotive) and his charismatic coach Ted Devenish. For several years they dominated the event, causing chronic depression in the cycling camps of Biggs , Brown and Huntley. These succeses were put down to the high spin turbo training that was eventually to bear fruit upon the roads of Bristol. There key aspect to consistency in there training and race performance was put down to large amounts of bricklaying in spare time.

But with 100m to go its still anyones race as Travis Martin with head down and his marginal gains slick hair style makes up 20 metres in the last straight and edges a win over the mighty William Brown to create history.
