Real life Balboa would not have a chance against Marciano who protected himself against opponents. Balboa's boxing is wild & he gets beat up all the time so even if he did survive 15 rounds with Marciano, he would badly lose  on points.

Rocky films helped boxing's rejuvenation.

Boxing was there before anything. Boxing was part of early 1904 Olympics!

In Zitiste, Serbia-Yugoslavia there is a statue or Rocky Balboa. The villagers erected that statue to give them strength when the times got tough because bother Balboa & Marciano never gave up & beat their opponents.

The inspiration to Rocky films came from the only unbeaten heavyweight champion in history. To prove that in one of Rocky films, Balboa has a picture on the wall of Rocky Marciano.
