Reinhold Max Eichler was born in 1872 in [[Saxony]], the son of a farmer. He first studied at the [[Dresden Academy of Fine Arts]] from 1889 to 1893, after which he transferred to the [[Academy of Fine Arts, Munich]] in the painting classes of [[Paul Hoecker]].
