Wolf attended the [[University of Louisville]] and graduated in 1874. He graduated from the [[University of Chicago|University of Chicago Law School]] in 1876 and became a lawyer in [[Chicago]]. Wolf held several local political offices before serving in the [[Illinois House of Representatives]] and the [[Illinois Senate]], including sercing as the Chicago Alderman from the 32nd Ward from 1879 to 1882 before resigning from the position.
