For several years of dedication to the artistic creation of stained glass of which she will be the first in the Soviet Union to use the tubage or email tubé technique on colored glass.

Shabanova was a student of [[Pimenov, Yuri Ivanovich|Yuri Pimenov]] and she developed artistic research works with with [[Sergei Parajanov]] and [[Andrei Tarkovsky]]. She was inspired both by an interest in Russian folk art, and by [[modernism]] in art. The 1983 film [[Nostalghia]] by Andrei Tarkovsky was inspired by the [[Magic realism]] of Galina Shabanova.
