Annunciation is a painting attributed to the Rococo artist Giambattista Pittoni, dating from circa 1757.

History
The painting was completed in 1757 in Venice, when Pittoni was appointed president of the Accademia dei Pittori in Venice, is exhibited in the permanent collection of the Gallerie dell'Accademia of Venice, by donation by Pittoni himself, as tradition to the appointment of President and as he also did Giambattista Tiepolo.

The painting, which is part of the Academy's first historical patrimony, is inserted within frames recovered in 2015 following a large restoration project, it is in the best conservation conditions because it is subject to frequent maintenance works, and is exhibited in the hall origin of the Gallerie Gallerie dell'Accademia, right where it had its headquarters since 1808 and whose history, of which one of the protagonists was Pittoni, remained intertwined with that of the Accademia di Belle Arti di Venice founded by Pittoni, until 1882, when there was the separation between the museum and the academic institution with educational functions.
It was also a form of presentation by Pittoni of his skills to the city of Venice, upon their entry into the institution with historical-allegorical subjects, as were the views of Canaletto present in the same exhibition hall. It was in fact a tradition that whoever entered the institutions but above all who obtained the position of President of the Academy of Venice, executed a painting to be donated to the Academy.
