== Life ==
Dahl studied at the [[Kunstakademie Düsseldorf]] from 15 October 1886. There, he attended the elementary class of [[Heinrich Lauenstein]] and the preparatory class of [[Hugo Crola]] in 1886/87. From 1887/88 to 1890/91, he attended the antique and nature class of {{Ill|Peter Janssen|en}}; from 1888/89 to 1990/91, the decoration class of {{Ill|Adolf Schill|en}} and from 1890/91, the painting class of {{Ill|Adolf Schill|en}}, {{Ill|Julius Roeting|en}}, and {{Ill|Eduard von Gebhardt|en}}. In 1894, he completed his studies in Düsseldorf. In the 1890s, he became friends with the landscape painter [[Wilhelm Fritzel]]. He lived and worked for many years in Düsseldorf, where he was a member of the {{Ill|Malkasten|en}} artist association.

Dahl's paintings are indebted to German [[Post-impressionism|late-impressionism]].
