Je najlažji [[trdnina|trden]] element in se predvsem uporablja za izdelavo [[zlitina|zlitin]] za prenos [[toplota|toplote]], v [[baterija (elektrika)|baterijah]], v nekaterih [[zdravilo|zdravilih]] pa nastopa kot sestavina za [[stabiliziranje počutja]]. Litij je [[teža|najlažja]] kovina in ima pol manjšo [[gostota|gostoto]] kot [[voda]].
