"Diamond" is a bubblegum pop song and it incorporates 1960s retro sound and has a jazzy melody as well as an catchy bass line. The song influenced the American singer Meghan Trainor songs "All About That Bass and "Lips Are Movin"<ref>http://www.btsdl.cc/money-talks-aurora-give-it-to-me-xxx-pornalized-mp4-tf3480481.html</ref> "I love Meghan Trainor, her songs are so cool and catchy and her voice, I admire her so much. "All About That Bass" and "Lips Are Movin" were my all time favorite". The instrument consist bass, organ, guitar and electro brass. The time signature are 4/4 with a tempo of 120 beats per minute. The song's key signature is C major, the song follows a common chord progression  C–Am–F–G.

The music video was directed by Jessy Chance and it was filmed in Los Angeles. The video of the song premiered on Vevo on February 11, 2017. The music video features sparkly silver and gold background as well as white neon background. The synopsis of the song's video starts with Mary doing the snapping her fingers along with her backup dancers and standing on the classic microphone, mainly Mary singing to the song and dancing to the choreography with her backup dancers. The scene also consist of the story between Mary and her love interest portrayed by Michael Chain

==Critical reception==

Ruth Jane from MMN found the similarities Between the song and Meghan Trainor's songs "All About That Bass" and "Lips Are Movin", due to similarity of the bass line intro and drum beat and the genre doo-wop, the 1960s style. The television host Alex Moro describe the song as "catchy bass line" and also found similarities to Meghan Traitor's style.
