This template should only be called by Ttaxonomy template pages (i.e. pages with titles of the form "Template:Taxonomy/''taxon''"), where {{{machine code}}} is unspecified. Elsewhere it is redundant to the more-efficient "dDon't edit this line {{{machine code}}}" variants.
