最近几十年，香港逐步赢得在世界各大都市当中最安全城市的美誉，除了天灾鲜有光顾的以外，高效的纪律部队也功不可没。 


香港警队和消防相当先进现代化，水准堪称全球数一数二。警察在街上巡逻频密，警署在市区分布也相当密集，因此香港犯罪率相对其它大都市而言，极低。而召唤紧急服务后，救护车8分钟内能到达更是世界绝无仅有。

==领事馆==
50多个国家在港常设有领事馆，当中部分编制甚至是邻近地区最大的使领馆，比一些国家级的大使馆还要大。
