Samskip is a global logistics company based on Samband Line, an Icelandic shipping company established in 1946.  Samband Line provided liner services to and from Iceland for more than half a century.  Samskip took over the Samband Line operations as of 1 January 1991.
At first, Samskip´s focus was mainly on liner services to and from Iceland but soon offices were opened in Denmark, The Netherlands, the UK, USA, Norway and Sweden.  The company has experienced constant growth ever since, as a result of both internal growth and strategic acquisitions, and now runs offices in five continents, Europe, Asia, North and South America and Australia. Samskip Multimodal
The European container network, operated under the Samskip Multimodal banner, is now one of the largest container transport network in Europe with emphasis on 45 ft containers and a network covering Scandinavia and mainland Europe by sea, rail, inland waterways and road, depending on customer needs each time.
North Atlantic Integrated Logistics
Three container vessels sail to and from Iceland and the Faroe Islands calling ports in the UK, The Netherlands and Scandinavia.  In early 2013, Samskip started a new coastal service early and now offers direct liner service from Reykjavik, Ísafjörður, Sauðárkrókur, Akureyri and Reyðarfjörður in Iceland to Immingham in the UK and Rotterdam.  Samskip also operates an extensive domestic network in Iceland with trucks reaching most destinations within 24 hours and offers tailor-made warehousing solutions to customers with online stock control.  Agency services and transport of breakbulk & project cargo are also supplied.
Samskip Icepak Logistics  - Worldwide Temperature Controlled Cargo
A large part of Samskip services is transport of frozen cargo.  Samskip temperature controlled division, Samskip Icepak Logistics, offers worldwide transport of seafood, meat, dairy, fruits and vegetables around the world.
Cold stores are located in Aalesund, Norway, and Rotterdam, The Netherlands, operated under the FrigoCare banner.  Two other cold stores are located in Reykjavik, Iceland, and in the Faroe Islands.
European Breakbulk & Project Cargo
Samskip provides regular sailings within Europe and from Europe to Russia and Central Asia for customers seeking breakbulk and project cargo solutions.
Worldwide Forwarding
Global operations by land, sea and air along with agency agreements and partnerships throughout the world, enables Samskip to offer worldwide forwarding to customers.
