With over 200 competition honours to his name Herbert retired as the unbeaten JKA national kata champion in 2004 at the age of 29. He has stated in numerous interviews that the highlight of his competition career was winning the [[KUGB]] British championship for Enoeda's ''dojo'', just weeks after Enoeda's death in 2003. ==Teaching== Herbert has coached many students to competition and grading merits. He has produced numerous Dan''dan'' grades, national champions and international competitors who have competed up to Wworld Cchampionship standard. He has also taught classed and coached squad training sessions at Master Enoeda’s Marshall Street and [[Budowkai]] clubs. ==Dan Grades== Herbert was originally graded to 1st Dan Black Belt in 1989 by the late Sensei Pauline (Laville) Bindra (8th Dan), a rank he later ratified with the [[JKA]] under Sensei Enoeda in 1995. Master Enoeda also graded him to the JKA ranks of 2nd and 3rd Dan in 1996 and 1999 respectively.
