It has been suggested that the origins of the slur are in the slang word for semen, basically implying that the person in question is a "waste of sperm". It seems equally possible that the term arose independantly of this meaning in the Newfoundland context. Can anyone source this or is this just somebody's personal speculation? Looks a bit like original research that I'd favor removing, unless someone has some experience with them being connected. :I've made the paragraph on the origin more open (and hopefully accurate). We really don't know the origins of the term, but as more people add thier country's usage, the mystery is starting to unfold. I think this is probably the most research and literature ever written on this term... it's actually quite facinating.--Zippo 12:36, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

I've made some changes to this entry for greater NPOV Poor grasp of the "English language" has been replaced with "standard English." Linguists recognize that standard English and Newfoundland English are all just different dialects within English as a whole. "Terrible grammar" has been replaced with "non-standard grammar".

(contracted; show full)7;otherwise known as a "dirt stache nigger" - who wrote this? Is this vandalism? I've NEVER heard of the term "dirt stache nigger" before. I've removed the word "nigger" - if this is a fact, could someone tell me what exactly it means and where it comes from? Crabbyass 00:54, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
:Thank you for removing that; it was indeed vandalism. --Zippo 12:18, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
