== Biography ==
After graduating from [[Tulane University]] in 1913 with a degree in [[mechanical]] and [[electrical engineering]], he joins the [[army]] in 1917, first in the Military Aeronautics Service Division and then the Navy as a commissioned Ensign before joining [[Annapolis]] Submarine School, in 1918 and in 1921, a commission in the Naval Reserve, until 1941.
