The band formed in late 2010 with guitarist Gabe Mushel, singer River Stumpf, bassist Tyler Jacobs, and former members Michael Johnston and Jake Swenson and in which were replaced by drummer Luke Holland and guitarist Damien Johns. The band rose to fame due to it's Billboard Hot 100 top 10 single "Bulletproof Love" and being a finalist on the Billboard Battle of the Bands competition in 2011. Founded by Fall Out Boy frontman Patrick Stump, the band signed to Universal Republic and released their debut self-titled EP on November 15, 2011 charting at number 18 on the U.S. Billboard 200. The band's debut studio album ''Draw My Thoughts'' was released through Epic Records on September 18, 2012 and peaked at number 6 on the Billboard 200. Overall, the band has opened for bands such as Crown the Empire, The Used, We Came as Romans, Mindflow, Fall Out Boy, and Paramore. In 2013, the band released two albums titled ''Draw My Thoughts Acoustic'' and ''Live in Brisbane''. On October 1, 2013, the band released a promotional single "A Love Like War" featuring All Time Low. On February 19, 2014, it was announced that Jake Swenson would be leaving the band due to personal and family issues and was later revealed that Luke Holland would be replacing Swenson. On February 24, 2014, the band released a song called "Kissing in Cars" from the soundtrack of the film ''Endless Love''. Whilst recording their second studio album, the band re-issued their debut album, ''Draw My Thoughts: The Reboot'' on June 3, 2014. 

In 2015, the band headlined the 2015 Kerrang! Tour throughout February with We Are the In Crowd, Don Broco, Bury Tomorrow, and Beartooth. The band embarked on the North American leg of their Life After All World Tour with Sleeping With Sirens and supporting acts As It Is and Slaves which began on March 6 and concluded on May 2, 2015. The band announced their second live CD/DVD ''Live! Cincinnati, Ohio'' set to be released on August 4, 2015. On June 21, 2015, the band released their single "The Divine Zero", and announced their album ''Life After All'', set to be released in October 2015. The band also departed from Epic Records and signed with Fearless Records on the same day. The band participated on Vans Warped Tour that summer, opened for Crown the Empire on their Fallout Tour, and embarked on their first headliner No Guts No Glory Tour with Sleeping With Sirens, Hands Like Houses, and Tonight Alive as supporting acts. In 2013, the band released two more albums ''Draw My Thoughts Acoustic'' and ''Live In Brisbane'', embarked on the Draw My Thoughts World Tour with Issues, Letlive., and Tonight Alive as opening acts, and also performed on the Vans Warped Tour. Soundcheck served as a supporting act on Fall Out Boy's Save Rock and Roll Arena Tour with Panic! at the Disco and on Paramore's Self-Titled North American Tour in 2013. Throughout January and February 2014, the band embarked on the Something In The Air European Tour with The Summer Set, The Pretty Reckless, and New Politics and headlined the 2015 Kerrang! Tour in the United Kingdom.

The band began production and recording for their sophomore studio album in February of 2014 in Orlando, Florida. Drummer and founding member Jake Swenson departed from the band prior to recording sessions due to personal issues and was later replaced by The World Alive drummer Luke Holland. Soundcheck supported Fall Out Boy and Paramore on their co-headlining Monumentour from June to August of 2014. 

Soundcheck released their single "The Divine Zero" and announced their second studio album, ''Life After All'', on June 21, 2015. ''Life After All'' is set to be released in October of 2015 through Fearless Records. In support of the album, the band toured on the 2015 Vans Warped Tour and embarked on their Life After All World Tour with Sleeping With Sirens, As it Is, and Slaves.
